Rosemont, Ill. -
The Lewis University softball team took advantage of two second inning Upper Iowa errors, as the Flyers scored five unearned runs en route to the 5-3 regional win over the Peacocks in the final day of the Flyer Dome Invitational at The Dome at the Ballpark on Sunday (Feb. 22) morning.

Freshmen Sarah DeMasi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport), Jenna Cairo (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) and sophomore Carly Jaworski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) each notched a pair of base hits for the Flyers. DeMasi and Cairo (triple, SB) both scored a run, while Jaworski collected a RBI. Sophomore second baseman Carolyn Nojiri (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) provided a two-run triple in the second inning for the Flyers.

"It's nice to get that last win of the weekend," Lewis head softball coach Becky Pearl said. "We wanted to come out with a lot of intensity and finish out the tournament on a good note."

With the win, Lewis improves to 3-2 overall, while Upper Iowa drops to 3-6 on the campaign.

Lewis senior pitcher Kelly Bowler (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) earned the complete-game victory while allowing six hits. Bowler (3-0) struck out a season-high nine batters. Upper Iowa starting pitcher Brooke Redmond allowed five runs - all unearned - and seven hits in two innings of work.

Lewis returns to action on March 2nd, as they head to Clermont, Florida to meet Walsh for a 1 PM ET showdown, followed by a 3PM ET contest against Notre Dame College.
