Emporia, Kan. - Lewis University juniors
Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) and
Jill Wetmore (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) each picked up two victories to help the Flyer women's tennis team to the 6-3 non-conference win over Emporia State at Emporia High School on Sunday (March 15) afternoon.
With their second-straight win, Lewis improves to 4-4 on the campaign, while the Hornets fall to 7-4 on the season.
Nguyen and Wetmore opened with an 8-2 win over ESU's Amy Fugit and Kaley Clark at No. 2 doubles. Nguyen added a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 come-from-behind win over ESU's Camila Ramos at No. 2 singles, while Wetmore dropped Clark, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.

Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) upended Tawni Griffey, 6-1, 6-2, while teammate
Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) claimed the 6-2, 6-1 win over Taylor Smith at No. 3 singles. The Flyers picked up their final win at No. 6 singles, as
Kayla Annerino (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) earned the 6-2, 6-3 victory over ESU's Tiffany Khounsombath.
Lewis opens up Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Saturday (March 21), as they head to Rensselaer, Ind., to square off with Saint Joseph's. First serve is set for 10 AM.
