Evansville, Ind. - The Lewis University women's tennis team is hitting its stride, as the Flyers picked up their fifth-straight win with the 6-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Southern Indiana at the Evansville Tennis Center on Saturday (March 28) afternoon.
"I thought we did a great job controlling the doubles and we had some good, solid and smart singles play as well (today)," Lewis head women's tennis coach
Brett Bridel said.
With the victory, Lewis improves to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in GLVC action, while the host Screaming Eagles fall to 9-7 on the campaign and 0-3 in conference play.

Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) and sophomore
Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) opened the match up with an 8-2 win over USI's Ashlee Hasson and Brenna Wu at No. 1 doubles. Mindiyarova added a win over Hasson (5-0, ret.) at No. 1 singles, while Banic bested Elizabeth Wilm (7-6 (7-2), 6-3) at No. 3 singles.
The Flyers' No. 2 doubles tandem of
Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) and
Jill Wetmore (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) picked up the 8-3 victory over Kymberly Brannon and Kelsey Shipman. Nguyen would later earn the 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Wu at No. 2 singles, while Wetmore was victorious over Brannon (6-1, 6-0) at No. 4 singles.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (April 2), as the Flyers welcome Ferris State to the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex for a 1:30 PM first serve.
