Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's tennis team picked up its 10
th win of the season on Monday (April 6) as it took down Olivet Nazarene, 6-3, at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
With the win, Lewis improves to 10-5, while visiting Olivet Nazarene falls to 11-5 on the season.
Lewis freshman
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) and junior
Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) paired up for an 8-5 victory over Olivet Nazarene's Priscila Nunez and Viktoria Monakhova at No. 1 doubles. Mindiyarova also added a 6-2, 6-0 win over Nunez at No. 1 singles.Â
At No. 2 doubles, sophomore
Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) and junior
Jill Wetmore (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) defeated Anica Knezevic and Marta Quereda, 8-6. At No. 3 singles, Banic earned a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Knezevic, while Wetmore defeated Quereda, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4 singles.
Lewis junior
Kayla Annerino (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) wrapped up the victory for the Flyers with a 7-6 (3), 7-5 triumph over Morgan Winnie at No. 6 singles.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (April 10), as the Flyers travel to Indianapolis for a 2 PM ET first serve.
