RENNSSELAER, Ind. - Lewis women's soccer rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to defeat Saint Joseph's 4-2 on Sunday (Sept. 13) afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.

Saint Joseph's stormed to a fast lead with a pair of first half goals. Haley Celebre and Aliyah Brown had the scores for the Pumas.

"I have to give Saint Joe a ton of credit," Lewis head coach Chris Koenig said. "They came out and had more urgency than us. They put us under pressure and they capitalized."

Lewis made it a game thanks to a quick goal in the second half when senior Maggie Moran (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) found the back of the net at 53:35 for her first goal of the season.

It was the first of four straight tallies. Lewis evened the game at 73:34 on a score by senior Julie Gunnerson (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South), assisted by Maggie Moran (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows). Then at 79:07 Moran scored again to give Lewis the lead. Miranda's tally was assisted by sophomore Mackenzie Fuller (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley). It took less than two minutes for the Flyers to put the game away when Moran scored her third of the day at 80:31 to put the Flyers up 4-2.

"In the second half we started to dictate things and I couldn't have asked for a better second half performance," Koenig said. "It was perhaps the most urgency I've seen out of this group. Moving forward we are going to have to be more consistent to start games or we might not get this same result."

Lewis' four goals are the most in a game since 2013 when they scored four goals in a game on four separate occasions. The last time Lewis scored four goals in a half was Sept. 21, 2012 at Kentucky Wesleyan when they found the back of the net four times in the first half of a 6-1 win over the Panthers.

The Flyers move to 4-1-0 (2-0-0 GLVC). Saint Joseph's falls to 1-2-1 (1-1 GLVC).

The Flyers continue conference play on Friday at Truman State in a 3 p.m. kick.
