PDF BoxKIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Lewis and Truman State played to a 1-1 (2 OT) tie at the Bulldog Soccer Park on Friday (Sept. 18) afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference women's soccer match.
Truman State struck first in the 12
th minute. Megan Whitehead sent a cross from the right side that Allison Lockett knocked in as the teams scuffled for the ball.
Lewis senior
Maggie Moran (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) evened the score at 34:42 on her fourth goal of the season. It capped a streak of five consecutive shots for Lewis over a 20-minute span following Truman State's goal.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the second half or 20 minutes of extra soccer.
The tie moves Lewis to 4-1-1 (2-0-1 GLVC), keeping Lewis undefeated in conference play. Truman State is now 2-1-3 (1-0-2 GLVC).
Sophomore
Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) made five saves for Lewis, including a save in the final seconds of the second overtime.
Lewis returns to the pitch on Sunday (Sept. 20) in a noon start at GLVC foe Quincy.
