ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis women's soccer dropped a Great Lakes Valley Conference match to Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday (Sept. 27) afternoon 4-0 at Lewis Stadium.

Sunday's loss is the first time Lewis has been shutout this season.

UMSL struck quickly in the first half. McKayla Harder sent a high lofting shot from the left side at 3:45 that bounced off the crossbar. She chased it down and put it past the end line. The Tritons made it 2-0 in the 20th minute when Emily Moser headed in a corner from Sidney Allen.

UMSL added a goal in the second half in the 57th minute. Mary Hoffmann sent a pass from past midfield toward the goal. Miriam Taylor chased it down faked the goalkeeper and scored. Jessica Micher scored with five seconds remaining in the match to make the final 4-0.

The Tritons held a 10-3 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) finished with five saves for Lewis. Senior Lauren Grady (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) recorded two of Lewis' shots on goal.

"They were better than us in every facet of the game," Lewis head coach Chris Koenig said. "They dictated for 90 minutes. When the goal is to win a championship that is the level you need to be at to win a championship."

UMSL improves to 4-1-2 (3-1-2 GLVC). Lewis falls to 5-3-1 (3-2-1 GLVC). Lewis returns to action on Friday (Oct. 2) evening at UIS in a GLVC match.
