ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Another game, another shutout. Lewis women's soccer cruised to a 3-0 win over Alderson Broaddus in a non-conference game at Lewis Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 6) afternoon. It is Lewis' third 2-0 start to a season in the last four years.

Lewis took a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute thanks to a goal by sophomore Mackenzie Fuller (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley). The UIC transfer scored her first Lewis goal with a strike 10 yards from the front of the net. Redshirt freshman Hannah Weber (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) and junior Meg Carmody (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) each earned an assist on the play. The goal came on Lewis' 11th shot of the game as the Flyers controlled the pace of play for the majority of the first half. Alderson Broaddus' best chance came on a high lofting shot by Caitlin Forest that hit the crossbar with 16:53 left in the first.

The Flyers pounced quickly in the second half to double their lead. Junior Meg Carmody (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) recorded her second goal in as many games on an assist by senior Maggie Moran (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) 2:22 into the final 45 minutes.

Fuller scored her second of the game at 53:33 after converting a penalty kick to make the score 3-0.

"All three goals we scored today were positive goals," Lewis head coach Chris Koenig said. "They weren't giveaways or mistakes (by the opponent). They were goals we had to earn."

The Flyers held advantages in shots (20-7), shots on goal (10-1) and corner kicks (5-1). Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) and freshman Audrey Pearson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) combined for Lewis' second consecutive shutout.

"Anytime you limit a team to one shot on goal the organization is pretty good," Koenig said.

Lewis improves to 2-0-0 while Alderson Broaddus falls to 0-2-0. Lewis continues play on Sept. 8 at Tiffin.
