The Dragons were on the board first when Taylor Lewis found the back of the net at 7:08. Tiffin's Svetlana Gudenkova converted a penalty kick in the 29
th minute to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Dragons.
Lewis broke through in the 61
st minute, cutting the lead in half. Sophomore
Mackenzie Fuller (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley)'s corner kick found freshman
Annalisa Lappo (Elmhurst, Ill./York) for Lappo's first career goal. Fuller now has five points in her last two games.
The Flyers had multiple chances in the final 30 minutes but couldn't get the equalizer.
"This is a really good lesson for this group," Lewis head coach
Chris Koenig said. "We haven't been consistent enough and today is a good example of the challenge of not starting strong and having to play from behind. You can't spot a team two goals on the road and expect to win. We need to learn from this and use this loss as a learning tool to get ready for Friday's conference opener."
Tiffin improves to 1-1-1. Lewis falls to 2-1-0. The Flyers welcome Indianapolis to Lewis Stadium on Friday (Sept. 11) in a 5 p.m. Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for the Flyers.
