Aurora, Ill. - The No. 12 Lewis University women's volleyball team split its matches on the final day of the 2016 Mizuno Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover Tournament at the Great Lakes Center on Saturday (Oct. 15). The Flyers dropped their first match to No. 24 Ferris State (25-22, 22-25, 15-25, 25-22, 16-18), but rebounded for the sweep over Trevecca Nazarene (25-19, 25-16, 25-19) in the nightcap.
Lewis (16-5) returns to action on Friday (Oct. 21), as the Flyers welcome McKendree to Neil Carey Arena at 7 PM for 'Playing For Preemies' Night.

Despite a 20/20 outing by sophomore outside hitter
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central), the No. 12 Lewis University women's volleyball team fell short in a five-set loss to No. 24 Ferris State in the opening match of the day.
Hyland finished with a career-high 22 kills alongside 20 digs in the loss. The Flyers also received double-doubles from redshirt sophomore setter
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) and redshirt outside hitter
Bailey Sparkman (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell). Becker had 44 assists and 11 digs, while Sparkman contributed 10 kills and 22 digs in the loss.

Caroline Stefanon (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) had 10 kills and seven blocks (1 solo), while redshirt senior libero
Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) collected 19 digs. Lewis senior defensive specialist
Carolyn Nojiri (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) picked up 10 digs, while redshirt junior middle hitter
Danica Schreck (Menasha, Wis./Neenah) had a career-high nine putaways and hit .381 (9 kills, 1 error, 21 attacks).

Hyland continued to roll in the Flyers' final match of the day, as she earned her second double-double of the afternoon with a match-high 15 kills and 10 digs. The Plainfield, Ill., native hit .393 (15 kills, 4 errors, 28 attacks) against the Trojans.
Freshman outside hitter Alexandra Pruess and Schreck each had eight kills in the win, while Becker dished out a match-high 38 assists. Yuede had a match-high 17 digs, while Sparkman garnered 12 digs.
As a team, Lewis hit .370 (46 kills, 9 errors, 100 attacks), while the Trojans were held to a hitting percentage of .139 (33 kills, 18 errors, 108 attacks).
