Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University redshirt senior forward
Jessica Chavez (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) made the most of her final game at Lewis Stadium with two goals in the 3-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Saint Joseph's on Friday (Oct. 21) night.
Lewis held a 1-0 lead through the first 80 minutes, thanks to a score at the 13:11 mark by sophomore defender
Kianna Clark (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake South). Chavez, however, put a little breathing room between the Flyers and the Pumas with goals in the 82nd and 86th minute for the final score of 3-0.
With the victory, Lewis improves to 8-7-1 overall and 6-6-1 in GLVC action, while the visiting Pumas drop to 1-11-2 on the campaign and 0-10-2 in conference play.
Lewis recorded a season-high 24 shots, including 11 shots on frame, while the Pumas registered just four shots on the evening.
Lewis redshirt junior goalkeeper
Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) stopped the only shot she faced to preserve the shutout for the Flyers.
Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 23) as the Flyers take to the road for a 12 PM ET kickoff against Indianapolis.
