Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 16 Lewis University women's volleyball team made short work of Illinois Springfield, as the host Flyers earned the 25-16, 25-15, 25-20 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over the Prairie Stars at Neil Carey Arena on Saturday (Oct. 22) afternoon.
Lewis sophomore outside hitter
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) had a match-high 15 kills for the Flyers, while hitting .355 (15 kills, 4 errors, 31 attacks).
Flyer redshirt sophomore
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) had 31 assists, while redshirt libero
Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) contributed a match-high 10 digs.
With the win, Lewis improves to 17-6 overall and 10-1 in GLVC action, while the Prairie Stars drop to 7-16 on the campaign and 0-11 in conference play.
As a team, Lewis hit .351 (45 kills, 12 errors, 94 attacks), while UIS had a hitting percentage of .154 (31 kills, 17 errors, 91 attacks)
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Oct. 28), as the Flyers head to Liberty, Mo., for a 7 PM showdown with William Jewell.
