Big Rapids, Mich. - Despite four players scoring in double-figures and outrebounding Ferris State by 16, the Lewis University men's basketball team dropped an 84-72 regional decision to the host Bulldogs at Jim Wink Arena on Saturday (Nov 19) afternoon.
Lewis sophomores
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) and
Frank Vukaj (Davison, Mich./Davison) each scored 14 points in the loss. Blaylock grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, while Vukaj had eight caroms.
The Flyers also received 12 points from junior forward
Nick Norton (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and 11 points from senior guard
Miles Simelton (Oswego, Ill./Oswego).
With the win, Ferris State improves to 3-0 on the campaign, while the Flyers are now 1-3 on the season.
Lewis outrebounded Ferris State, 47-31 - including 20 offensive rebounds - but the Flyers were unable to overcome an 0-for-10 shooting performance from beyond the arc. Ferris State also made 20-for-23 of its free throw attempts, while the Flyers knocked down 6-for-8 of its charity tosses.
Lewis returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 22), as the Flyers host Hillsdale for a 7:30 PM tip-off at Neil Carey Arena.
