Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) combined for 53 points as the No. 20 Flyer women's basketball team rallied from a 10-point, 2nd quarter deficit to claim the 82-57 regional victory over Ferris State at Jim Wink Arena on Sunday (Nov. 27) afternoon.
Johnson finished with a game-high 27 points, including 19 points and five three-pointers in the second half, while Kelliher collected 26 points and nine rebounds on 12-for-18 shooting. Johnson added a game-high five assists for Lewis, as the Flyers had 25 helpers on their 34 baskets.
The Flyers also received 10 points off the bench from freshman forward
Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston).
With the victory, Lewis improves its winning streak to five games and its record to 6-1 on the campaign, while the host Bulldogs drop to 0-5 on the campaign.
Lewis shot 50.7% (34-for-67) from the field, while Ferris State knocked down 40.0% (20-for-50) of its shots. The Flyers scored more points in the fourth quarter (27) than the Bulldogs did in the entire second half (24).
Lewis opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Thursday (Dec. 1), as the Flyers welcome Saint Joseph's to Neil Carey Arena for a 5:30 PM tip-off.
