Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University sophomore forward
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) scored a career-high 31 points on 11-for-14 shooting to help the No. 18 Flyer women's basketball team extend its winning streak to six games with the 74-65 victory over Saint Joseph's in both team's Great Lakes Valley Conference opener on Thursday (Dec. 1) at Neil Carey Arena.
Kelliher outscored the entire Saint Joseph's team in the second quarter, scoring 16 points in the frame while the Pumas managed just 10.
The Flyers were also aided by 16 points from redshirt senior guard
Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) and 11 points from redshirt sophomore guard
Kayla Brewer (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee School of Languages).
With the win, Lewis improves to 7-1 on the campaign and 1-0 in conference play, while the visiting Pumas are now 3-5 overall and 0-1 in GLVC action.
The Flyers held a 34-22 rebound advantage over the Pumas and converted 26-of-39 free throw attempts in the victory.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Dec. 3) as the Flyers host Indianapolis for a 1 PM tip-off at Neil Carey Arena.
