Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) outscored Saginaw Valley State in the second half, 21-17, and finished with a team-season high 31 tallies to lead the No. 17 Flyer women's basketball team to the 80-43 regional victory over the visiting Cardinals at Neil Carey Arena on Friday (Dec. 30) night.
Johnson was 11-for-15 from the field - including five three pointers - and did not play in the final quarter. In the third quarter, Johnson was 8-for-9 from the field with three trifectas to finish with 21 points, while the Flyers shot 81.3% (13-for-16) from the floor during that stanza. Saginaw Valley was 5-for-24 from the floor in the second half and finished with 17 points.
With the win, Lewis improves to 11-2 on the campaign, while the Cardinals fall to 8-3.

Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) pitched in 13 points, while freshman forward
Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) collected 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds in the victory.
The Flyers were also solid defensively, as they forced Saginaw Valley State into 19 turnovers - which led to 27 points - while limiting them to a 24.6% (14-for-57) shooting performance. Lewis shot 52.4% (33-for-63) from the floor and 40% (8-for-20) from beyond the arc.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 5), as the Flyers head to Rolla, Mo., to square off with Missouri S&T. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
