Rosemont, Ill. - Ashland University scored in every inning and collected six unearned runs off of six Lewis University errors as the Eagles earned the 10-2 (6 inn.) regional victory over the Flyers in the opening game of the Dome Invitational at The Dome at the Ballpark on Friday (Feb. 26) afternoon.
Ashland also committed five errors on the afternoon, but the Flyers only managed two unearned runs.
"You'd like to come out ready to play, and mentally we were, but we didn't settle down fast enough," Lewis head softball coach
Becky Pearl said. "They had five errors (too) and we didn't take advantage of it.
"We just need to settle down and make sure we are still aggressive with our at-bats."

Ali Brems (Kenosha, Wis./Harborside) took the loss in the circle for the Flyers. Brems (0-1) surrendered 10 runs, four earned, and allowed 11 hits in six innings of work. Ashland senior pitcher Sarah Alley (1-0) allowed two unearned runs and six hits, while fanning five Flyers.
Ashland sophomore third baseman Marissa Caraballo paced the Eagles' offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. The Eagles also received two hits apiece from junior center fielder Ally Farrah (2 runs, RBI) and senior catcher Bri Buckley (2 runs, RBI). Eagle second baseman Kalene Freshour went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
