Springfield, Mo. -
Despite a pair of victories from both sophomore Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) and senior Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora), the Lewis University women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 regional decision to Newman University at the Cooper Tennis Complex on Saturday (Feb. 29) afternoon.

"We need to regroup as a team and get ready for our next match," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "We did not play well today."

With the win, Newman improves to 4-1 overall, while the Flyers drop to 2-2 on the campaign.

Mindiyarova paired up with sophomore Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy) at No. 1 doubles and earned the 8-0 win over Newman's Ariana Raga and Vanessa Brill. Mindiyarova also beat Brill, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2 singles.
