Rosemont, Ill. -
The Lewis University softball team scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete a three-run rally and earn the 8-7 regional victory over Lindenwood in the final day of the Dome Invitational at The Dome At The Ballpark on Sunday (Feb. 28) morning.

"It was a huge comeback," Lewis head softball coach Becky Pearl said ."It was nice to see everybody pull together as a team, work hard and win this game today."

Eight different Flyers recorded at least one hit, with sophomores Jenna Cairo (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick), Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist), Sarah DeMasi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) and junior Carly Jaworski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) each collecting two hits for Lewis.

Lewis senior pitcher Ali Brems (Kenosha, Wis./Harborside) earned the victory for the Flyers. Brems (1-1) allowed seven runs, five earned, and 10 hits while striking out one batter. Lindenwood reliever Brooke Miller (0-2) took the loss for the Lions, allowing one run and two hits, without recording an out.

With the win, Lewis improves to 3-2 overall, while the Lions are now 2-12 on the campaign.

Lindenwood opened up with a 6-4 lead after two innings and added an insurance run in the sixth on a leadoff solo homer by center fielder Brooklyn Sisk.

The Flyers were quick to respond in the bottom half of the frame as pinch hitter Frankie Castagna (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle) led off with a single. Lewis pinch runner Alise Perna (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) (RBI) advanced to second on a groundout by junior Carolyn Nojiri (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North).

Cairo pushed Perna to third on a single to center field and advanced to second on the throw, putting runners on second and third for Prieto. Prieto (2 runs, 2 RBI) cut Lindenwood's lead to 7-6 with a two-run triple, her third of the weekend.

The Flyers evened up the score at 7-apiece on a RBI single by Jaworski (RBI, run), who moved over to second on a fielding error by Lindenwood right fielder Adele Linderman. Jaworski's pinch runner Angie Giancarlo (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) stole third base and scored the go-ahead run on a RBI single by senior catcher Brittany Russell (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East).

Lewis returns to action on Monday (Feb. 29), as the Flyers open The Spring Games against West Virginia Wesleyan at 1 PM ET, followed by a 3 PM ET showdown against Notre Dame College.
