Somers, Wis. - The Lewis University men's basketball team was unable to overcome a lethal combination of 18 turnovers and 12 Saginaw Valley State offensive rebounds, as the No. 25 Cardinals claimed the 80-65 win over the Flyers in a NCAA Midwest Regional Quarterfinal match-up at UW-Parkside's DeSimone Gymnasium on Saturday (March 12) night.
Saginaw Valley State scored 14 second chance points and 15 points off of the Lewis miscues. The Cardinals were also aided by 11 three-pointers on the evening, led by five trifectas from senior guard Damon Bozeman (19 points). SVSU shot 43.8% (28-for-64) from the field and 40.7% (11-for-27) from three-point range.
Cardinal junior forward C.J. Turnage had 20 points on 9-for-15 shooting, including a game-high eight rebounds, while senior guard Mitchell Baenziger drained three treys and finished with 11 points.
With the loss, Lewis' season ends with a record of 24-9, while the Cardinals improve to 23-7 and will take on UW-Parkside in the Regional Semifinals at 7:30 PM on Sunday (March 13).

Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) collected a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore forward
Max Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) finished with 16 points. Strus battled foul trouble for much of the game, as he picked up his fourth foul of the contest with 19:05 left.
The Flyers kept the game close for the next eight minutes as Saginaw Valley State held a 49-46 advantage with 12:50 left in the contest. The Cardinals, however, put the game away for good, as they went on a 20-5 run over the next 3:44 to extend their advantage to 69-51. Bozeman hit three of his treys during this stretch to help clinch the victory.
As a team, Lewis shot 44.9% (22-for-49) from the field and 33.3% (5-for-15) from three-point range.
