Lockport, Ill. – The top of the lineup powered the Lewis University men's tennis team to a 7-2 non-conference road victory over St. Francis (Ill.) on Sunday (March 20) afternoon at the Challenge Fitness Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Flyers snapped their three-match losing streak and improve to 6-4 on the season, while the Saints fall to 0-9 on the campaign.
At No. 1 doubles, Lewis junior
Mate Srdanovic (Split, Croatia/Graditeljsko-Geodetska Tehnicka) and freshman
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) paired up for the 8-2 victory over Michael Hasler and Anders Sandberg. Srdanovic also won 6-3, 6-3 over Boris Peshev at No. 1 singles, while Braschinsky earned the 6-0, 6-0 whitewash over Luka Dordevic at No. 2 singles.
The Lewis duo of sophomore
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) and freshman
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) downed Dordevic and Peshev, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles. Norasith later earned the 6-1, 6-2 victory over Hasler at No. 3 singles, while Peterson earned the 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Sandberg at No. 4 singles.
Lewis freshman
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) rounded out the Flyer victory defeating Jonathan Pacheco 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
The Flyers return to action on Thursday (March 24), as they host Walsh at the Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. First serve is set for 11 AM.
