Plainfield, Ill. - The Lewis University women's tennis team rolled to the 7-2 regional victory over Walsh University at the Five Star Tennis Center on Thursday (March 24).
With the win, Lewis improves to 6-3, while the Cavaliers fall to 6-15 on the campaign.
At No. 1 doubles, Lewis sophomores
Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy) and
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) paired for the 8-2 victory over Sofya Logonuva and Daria Bondareva. Mindiyarova added a 6-1, 6-0 win over Logonuva at No. 1 singles, while Andrejszki blanked Bondareva, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.
Lewis' senior pair of
Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) and
Jill Wetmore (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) earned an 8-1 win over Asia Harris and Anna Kravitz at No. 2 doubles. Nguyen bested Harris, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 singles, while Wetmore picked up the 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Kravitz at No. 4 singles.
The Flyers' final victory came at No. 5 singles, as freshman
Megan Conlin (Aurora, Ill./Rosary) claimed the 6-4, 6-1 win over Snezhana Kiseleva.
Lewis is back in action on Friday (March 25), as the Flyers return to the Five Star Tennis Center for a 12 PM first serve against Tiffin.
