Plainfield, Ill. - Four different Flyers recorded two victories as the No. 39 Lewis University men's tennis team earned the 6-3 regional win over Tiffin University at the Five Star Tennis Center on Friday (March 25).
With the win, Lewis improves to 7-5 overall, while the visiting Dragons fall to 10-6 on the campaign.
At No. 1 doubles, Lewis junior
Mate Srdanovic (Split, Croatia/Graditeljsko-Geodetska Tehnicka) and freshman
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) paired up for the 8-1 win over Agustin Mangone and Victor Fernandez. Srdanovic later picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Tiffin's Luis Ludena, while Braschinsky claimed the 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Elio Lezama Perez.
The Flyers' No. 2 tandem of sophomore
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) and freshman
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) edged Toby Cutting and Ludena, 9-7. Norasith took down Mangone, 6-0, 7-5, at No. 3 singles, while Peterson outlasted Cutting, 2-6, 7-6 (2), 10-8.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (March 26), as the Flyers meet Wayne State for a 12 PM first serve.
