Despite two victories from junior Mate Srdanovic (Split, Croatia/Graditeljsko-Geodetska Tehnicka), the No. 39 ranked Lewis University men's tennis team dropped a 6-2 decision to No. 19 University of Indianapolis at the Five Star Tennis Center on Saturday (April 9).

"UIndy is the best team in the region and they showed us that today," Lewis head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "We need to use this as motivation to work more with a purpose and to strive to be excellent.

"We had a couple very good results today but we need the whole team on board to compete in these matches," Bridel continued. "We will use (today's defeat) to get better as a whole."

With the win, the Greyhounds improve to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in GLVC play, while the Flyers drop to 10-7 on the season and 2-1 in conference action.

Lewis' lone doubles victory came when Srdanovic and freshman Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) downed UIndy's Arklon Huertas Del Pino and Andrea Morlet, 9-7, at No. 1. Srdanovic also picked up the only singles victory for the Flyers, as he battled for the 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 win over Huertas Del Pino at No. 1.

Lewis returns to action on Friday (April 15), as they travel to Lebanon, Ill. for a 2 PM GLVC showdown against McKendree.
