Springfield, Mo. - The No. 15 Lewis University women's volleyball team received a scare from Drury University, but the Flyers held on for the 25-12, 25-14, 18-25, 20-25, 15-6 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over the host Panthers at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon.
Lewis junior middle hitter
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) notched a match-high 19 kills and hit .457 (19-3-35), while redshirt junior
Maddie Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) picked up a double-double of 13 kills and 16 digs.
Flyer redshirt sophomore setter
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) had 48 assists, while redshirt senior
Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) collected a match-high 22 digs.
With the win, Lewis improves to 7-3 and 2-0 in GLVC action, while the host Panthers are now 6-4 on the campaign and 1-1 in conference play.
The difference in the game was the Flyers' efficiency as they hit .247 (59-20-158) to Drury's .122 (45-26-156).
Lewis returns to Neil Carey Arena on Friday (Sept. 23), as the Flyers welcome UMSL for a 7 PM first serve.
