Evansville, Ind. - Despite its best efforts, the Lewis University women's soccer team was unable to overcome a two-goal deficit, as Southern Indiana held on for the 3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the Flyers at Strassweg Field on Sunday (Sept. 25) afternoon.

Jessica Chavez (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) cut USI's lead in half with her fourth goal of the season at the 49:35 mark.
Southern Indiana, however, added an insurance goal from sophomore defender Oliva Wilde in the 63rd minute to secure the victory for the Screaming Eagles.
With the win, Southern Indiana improves to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in GLVC action, while the visiting Flyers are now 4-4-1 on the campaign and 2-3-1 in conference play.
As a team, Southern Indiana outshot Lewis, 12-10, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Sept. 30), as the Flyers welcome McKendree to Lewis Stadium for a 7:30 PM kickoff.
