Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University's
Miles Simelton (Oswego, Ill./Oswego),
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) and
Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) combined for 62 points as the Flyer men's basketball team picked up the 84-65 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Maryville University on Saturday (Jan. 14) at Neil Carey Arena.
Simelton led all scorers with 23 points on 8-for-15 shooting, including three trifectas, while Blaylock had 21 points on 6-for-9 shooting, including four three-pointers. Wilson knocked down 6-for-7 of his shots and finished with 18 points and a game-high seven rebounds.
With the win, Lewis improves to 11-5 on the campaign and remains undefeated in conference play at 6-0. Maryville falls to 7-12 on the season and 1-6 in GLVC action.
Lewis shot 51.9% (27-for-52) from the field and finished with 11 three-pointers. Simelton dished out a team-best five assists and the Flyers had 17 helpers on the afternoon against nine turnovers.
Maryville had a 39% (23-for-59) shooting percentage and converted 39.1% (9-for-23) of its long range attempts.
Lewis returns to action on Monday (Jan. 16), as the Flyers welcome UW-Parkside to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:30 PM tip-off.
