Romeoville, Ill. - UW-Parkside avenged its loss to the Lewis University men's basketball team in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference championship with a 71-66 win over the host Flyers at Neil Carey Arena on Monday (Jan. 16) night in a battle of GLVC unbeatens.
UW-Parkside junior Chavares Flanigan (9 rebounds) scored six of his 14 points in the final 1:09 to help the Rangers rally from a 66-65 deficit. This was one of 17 lead changes during the game that included 12 ties.
UW-Parkside improves to 15-1 overall and 7-0 in GLVC play, while the host Flyers drop to 11-6 on the campaign and 6-1 in conference action.

Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) led the Flyers in scoring with 13 points, while sophomore center
Frank Vukaj (Davison, Mich./Davison) contributed a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Both Lewis and UW-Parkside shot 44.6% (25-for-46) from the field, while the Rangers shot 35% (7-for-20) from long range and the Flyers made 23.5% (4-for-17) of their long range attempts.
Lewis is back in action on Thursday (Jan. 19), as the Flyers head to Louisville for a 7:30 PM ET tip-off against No. 9 Bellarmine.
