Louisville, Ky. - The No. 24 Lewis University women's basketball team used a stifling defense against No. 4 Bellarmine as the Flyers held the defending Great Lakes Valley Conference Champions to a 24.2% (15-for-62) shooting performance in the 69-57 win at Knights Hall on Thursday (Jan. 19) night.
The Flyers took a 47-44 lead into the fourth quarter and stymied the Bellarmine offense, as the Knights shot 17.6% (3-for-17) in the final 10 minutes. Lewis forced 13 turnovers, five of which came in the fourth quarter.
With the win, Lewis improves to 14-4 on the campaign and 6-2 in GLVC action, while the host Knights fall to 15-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
Lewis sophomore forward
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) helped the Flyers to a 44-14 advantage in points in the paint, as she was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor to finish with a team-best 15 points. Kelliher added five rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Lewis redshirt senior guard
Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) finished with 11 points, eight of which came in the deciding fourth quarter where the Flyers outscored Bellarmine, 22-13.
The Flyer bench accounted for 25 points, led by nine points and a team-high eight rebounds from redshirt sophomore

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 21), as the Flyers head to Evansville for a 1 PM tip-off against Southern Indiana.
