Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team held its sixth opponent of the season to 50 points or fewer in the 65-50 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over McKendree at Neil Carey Arena on Thursday (Jan. 26).
McKendree shot 33.3% (18-for-54) from the field and turned the ball over 15 times, leading to 15 points for the Flyers.
Lewis, conversely, turned the ball over a season-low 10 times and knocked down 50% (15-for-30) of its field goal attempts in the second half to earn the win. The Flyers finished with a 45.6% (26-for-57) field goal percentage.
With the win, Lewis improves to 15-5 on the campaign and 7-3 in GLVC action, while the Bearcats drop to 10-9 on the season and 1-8 in conference play.
Lewis sophomore forward
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) filled up the stat sheet with a game-high 17 points, eight rebounds, five steals, three blocks and two assists in the win.
Flyer redshirt senior guard
Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) posted nine of her 13 points in the second half, while redshirt sophomore guard
Kayla Brewer (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee School of Languages) collected 10 points - including a pair of three-pointers.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 28), as the Flyers welcome UIS to Neil Carey Arena for a 1 PM tip-off.
