Springfield, Ill - A second half penalty kick ended the Lewis University men's soccer team's six-game winning streak as Illinois-Springfield defeated Lewis 1-0 Sunday (Oct. 15) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game.
At the 72:20 mark in the game, Rhys Wallace scored the game's lone goal on a penalty kick, his third goal of the year for the Prairie Stars (7-6-1, 7-4-1 GLVC).
The Flyers (9-4, 8-3 GLVC) led UIS in shots 11-9, but the hosts had the shots on goal advantage, 4-2.
Nico Mueller (Braunschweig, Germany/Raabeschule Braunschweig) had four shots on goal to lead Lewis, while
Philip Huang (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) made three saves in goal.
Lewis returns home Friday (Oct. 20) for a GLVCÂ contest against Quincy at 7:30 PM at Lewis Stadium.
