Springfield, Ill - The Lewis University women's soccer team came up on the short end of a 1-0 decision at Illinois-Springfield Sunday (Oct. 15) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match.
It was the third straight game and seventh game of the year where the Flyers played to a 1-0 final.
UIS (8-4-4, 5-4-3 GLVC) scored the lone goal of the game in the 29th minute when Meghan Delaney scored from the right corner on an assist from Maggie Juhlin. It was the fourth goal of the year for Delaney.
The Flyers were outshot 14-10 for the game, but battled evenly in the second half with the Prairie Stars, with each team taking four shots.
Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) totaled seven saves in goal, while
Kailey Parnello (Rockford, Ill. /Boylan Central Catholic) took five shots, four on goal for Lewis (5-6-2, 4-5-2).
Lewis travels to take on Purdue Northwest Tuesday (Oct. 17) in its final nonconference game of the year for a 3 PM start.
