Hammond, Ind. - It was an offensive explosion for the Lewis University women's soccer team in a 6-0 win at Purdue Northwest in the final nonconference match of the regular season for the Flyers Tuesday (Oct. 17).
The six goals were the most for Lewis since 2012 when it scored six goals against Saint Joseph's.
Kailey Parnello (Rockford, Ill. /Boylan Central Catholic) scored twice to lead Lewis, picking up her second and third goals of the season.
Cali Havelka-Vanderplow (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South)Â picked up her team-leading fourth goal of the season, while
Alissa Waits (Carmel, Ind. /Carmel),
Mallory Richardson (Bartlett, Ill./Westminister Christian) and
Carley Patterson (Traverse City, MI/Elk Rapids) all picked up their first goals of the year.
Richardson added two assists, with
Courtney Sengstock (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) and Parnello adding helpers.
Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) and
Shelby Stitz (South Elgin, Ill. /St. Charles North)Â combined for the shutout in goal.
Lewis (6-6-2) outshot Purdue Northwest (0-14) 18-5 for the game and scored four of its goals after halftime.
The Flyers are home Friday (Oct. 20) when they welcome Great Lakes Valley Conference leader Quincy to Lewis Stadium for a 5 PM start.
