Early Goal Lifts Indianapolis To 1-0 Win Over Lewis Women's Soccer

Lewis' Jennifer Meyer makes seven saves in goal

Indianapolis, Ind. - A 12th minute goal from University of Indianapolis was all it needed to defeat the Lewis University women's soccer team 1-0 Friday (Oct. 6) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Key Stadium.

The Greyhounds' Michelle Govern found the back of the net 11:35 into the game for the deciding goal. The assist went to Taylor Peck.

It was the third goal for Govern on the season for Indianapolis (6-3-1, 5-2-1 GLVC).

Reigning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) made seven saves in goal for the Flyers (4-5-2, 3-4-2 GLVC).

The Flyers were outshot 14-7 overall and 8-5 on goal. Cali Havelka-Vanderplow (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South) had two shots on goal to lead the Flyers.

Lewis returns home Sunday (Oct. 8) to take on UW-Parkside for a Noon kickoff.
