Mueller's Goal Gives Lewis Men's Soccer Its Fifth Straight Win, 3-2

Blom, Moreno add goals for Flyers

Indianapolis, Ind. - Behind a late goal by Nico Mueller (Braunschweig, Germany/Raabeschule Braunschweig), the Lewis University men's soccer team picked up a 3-2 win against Indianapolis Friday (Oct. 6) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Key Stadium to extend its winning streak to five games.

It is the longest winning streak for the Flyers since a five-game winning streak in the 2013 season.

Mueller broke the tie game in the 81st minute of the game with his fifth goal of the season on an assist by Conor Mohr-Condron (Hamburg, Germany/Oberstufe Foorthkamp).

Floris Blom (Zwolle, Netherlands/Centre for Sports and Education) opened the scoring for the Flyers (8-3, 7-2 GLVC) with a goal at the 40:51 mark, assisted by Devon Amoo-Mensah (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central). It is Blom's second goal of the season.

Lewis took a 2-0 lead at the 61:56 mark when Dorian Moreno (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) scored his first goal of the season.

However, the Greyhounds (6-3-1, 5-2-1 GLVC) answered back quickly with two goals in under seven minutes to tie the game at 2-2.

Josh Ling scored the first goal for Indianapolis at 70:12, while Javier Steinwascher added the second at 76:36 to tally his sixth goal of the season. David Kurz and Julian Zylfiu picked up assists.

Philip Huang (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) made six saves in goal for the Flyers.

Entering the game Indianapolis was ranked No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Midwest Regional rankings, while Lewis was No. 8.

Lewis is back home Sunday (Oct. 8) as it takes on UW-Parkside at 2:30 PM, looking for its sixth straight win.
