Romeoville, Ill. - Nico Mueller (Braunschweig, Germany/Raabeschule Braunschweig) recorded his second consecutive game-winning goal, giving the Lewis University men's soccer team a 1-0 double overtime win over Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday (Oct. 8) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Lewis Stadium.
In the 104th minute Mueller took a pass from Timm Adler (Frankenthal Rheinland-Pfalz Germany/Karolinen-Gymnasium Frankenthal) at the 30-yard line, drove past the defender and beat the goalie for his sixth goal of the season.
The win is the sixth straight for the Flyers (9-3, 8-2 in GLVC), the longest winning streak since they won nine straight games in 2010.
Philip Huang (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) picked up his fourth shutout of the year in goal, making four saves.
Lewis outshout UW-Parkside (3-7-1, 3-5-1 in GLVC) 21-12 for the game, 8-1 in the overtime periods.
It was the sixth overtime game on the year for Lewis, which improved to 4-2 in overtime games.
Lewis returns to the field Sunday (Oct. 15) for a road game against Illinois-Springfield.
