Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University junior outside hitter
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) recorded her 1,000th career kill, as the No. 3 Flyer women's volleyball team won its 12th straight match with the 25-18, 25-13, 23-25, 25-16 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Truman State at Neil Carey Arena on Saturday (Oct. 7).
With the win, Lewis improves to 17-1 overall and 9-0 in GLVC action, while the visiting Bulldogs drop to 7-12 on the campaign and 3-6 in conference play.
Hyland and sophomore outside hitter
Alexandra Preuss (Elmhurst, Ill./York) each notched double-doubles in the win. Hyland had a match-high 17 kills along with 16 digs, while Preuss collected 11 kills and a match-high 19 digs.
Lewis also received 10 kills apiece from redshirt senior right side hitter
Maddie Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) and senior middle hitter
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn).
Flyer redshirt junior setter
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) dished out a match-high 46 assists, while sophomore middle hitter
Caroline Stefanon (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) had a match-high seven blocks (1 solo).
Lewis recorded a hitting percentage of .254 (58 kills, 22 errors, 142 attacks), while the Bulldogs connected at a clip of .031 (31-27-127).
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Oct. 13), as they open up first day action at the 10th Annual Midwest Region Crossover against a yet-to-be determined opponent.
