Aurora, Ill. - In the first match of the Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover Friday (Oct. 13), Lewis University women's volleyball defeated Findlay in the team's 13th straight victory and 13th sweep of the season 25-23, 25-19, 25-18.
With the win, the Flyers improve to 18-1, while the Oilers fall to 16-3.
Lewis was led in the victory by the hitting trio of junior outside hitter
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central), senior middle hitter
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn), and sophomore outside hitter
Alexandra Preuss (Elmhurst, Ill./York) who had 12, 11, and 10 kills respectively.
Leading the match in assists was redshirt junior setter
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) who had 34.
On the defensive end sophomore libero
Ronni Katarzynski (Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) had 20 digs and Schneider had 8 blocks to lead the match.
Lewis finished the match with a hitting percentage of .353 (46 kills, 10 errors, 102 attacks). Findlay finished with .182 (36 kills, 14 errors, 121 attacks).
The Flyers will have their second match of the day Friday (Oct. 13) at 5:30 PM against Grand Valley State.
