Aurora, Ill. - The No. 1 ranked Lewis University women's volleyball team picked up its second win of the day at the Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover on Friday (Oct. 13), defeating Grand Valley State University in three sets 25-22, 25-23, 25-16.
The Flyers improve to 19-1 on the season and extend their win streak to 14 matches, while The Lakers move to 9-10.
In the victory, redshirt junior setterÂ
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) had a note-worthy performance out-assisting the entire Lakers team (32) with 37 assists.
Junior outside hitter
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) racked up a match high 12 kills for Lewis in the win over Grand Valley State. Sophomore outside hitterÂ
Alexandra Preuss (Elmhurst, Ill./York)Â also put in a solid performance with 11 kills.

Ronni Katarzynski (Winfield, Ill./West Chicago)Â finished the match with 12 digs, and at the net senior middle hitterÂ
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) and sophomore middle hitter
Caroline Stefanon (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) led the match with 5 blocks each.
For the match Lewis earned a hitting percentage of .262 (43 kills, 16 errors, 103 attacks), compared to the .135 GVSU earned.
The final match of the Midwest Region Crossover for Lewis is scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday (Oct. 14).Â
