Houghton, Mich. - Lewis University's
Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) and
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) combined for 47 points, but it was not enough as Michigan Tech claimed the 87-80 regional victory over the visiting Flyers in the final day of the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge at Michigan Tech's SDC Gym on Sunday (Nov. 12).
Wilson scored a career-high 26 points on 8-for-14 shooting, with a team-best seven rebounds, while Blaylock totaled 21 points on 9-for-15 shooting, including two three-pointers.
The Flyers also received 12 points from senior forward
Nick Norton (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North).
With the win, Michigan Tech improves to 2-0 overall, while the Flyers fall to 0-2 on the campaign.
Lewis shot 52.8% (28-for-53) from the field and 43.8% (7-for-16) from three-point range. Michigan Tech knocked down 52.7% (29-for-55) of its field goal attempts and 45.5% (10-for-22) of its shots from beyond the arc.
Michgan Tech's Kyle Monroe pitched in a game-high 32 points, including four three-pointers, and a game-high nine rebounds.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Nov. 18), as the Flyers host Saginaw Valley State for a 7 PM tip-off.
