Wyoming, Mich. - The Lewis University men's basketball team fell to No. 5 ranked Ferris State 94-68 Monday (Dec. 18) in a nonconference game at Godwin Heights High School.
The Flyers (4-7) fell behind 23-12 midway through the first half before cutting the deficit to three points at 27-24 on a pair of free throws by
Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) with 7:08 left in the first half.
The Bulldogs (13-1) responded to take a 41-30 lead heading into the break.
A jumper by
Brandon McCombs (Jacksonville, Ill./Jacksonville)Â got the Flyers to within nine points at 63-54 with 9:32 remaining, but they would get no closer the remainder of the game.
Wilson had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead Lewis.
Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) scored 14 points and dished out five assists,
Frank Vukaj (Davison, Mich./Davison) had 13 points and
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights)Â added 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in his return to his hometown.
Lewis shot 40.3 percent (27-of-67) from the field, while Ferris State went 50.8 percent (32-of-63).
The Flyers have a quick turnaround as they will take on Northwestern Tuesday (Dec. 19) at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. Tip time in scheduled for 7 PM.
