Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University head women's tennis coach
Brett Bridel announced on Wednesday (Dec. 20) that Joie Reisch and Sophie Davis will join the Flyers for the 2018-19 season.
"We are very excited to have these two players signed early and look forward to their arrival on campus this coming fall," Bridel said. "Both come from tennis families, are outstanding students and have excellent work ethic, which will really help them contribute to our tennis program."
Reisch
Reisch will be an Aviation Flight Management major and was a four-year varsity tennis player at Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, where she was a three-time qualifier for the IHSA State Tournament.
"Joie is an excellent player from a very strong high school program," Bridel said. "I am confident that Joie will have a positive impact for us as soon as she gets on campus."
Davis
Davis, who plans to major in Business, is a four-year varsity tennis player at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, where she was a two-time IHSA State Tournament qualifier and was the singles sectional champion her senior year. Sophie's brother also attends and plays hockey for Lewis University.
"Sophie has made great gains in her tennis game and is such a hard worker," Bridel said. "She has received awesome training and guidance from her tennis pros, so she will be ready to compete when she gets her this fall.
"I am thrilled that Sophie will become a Flyer and know that she will be a great representative of the university and our tennis program."
The Flyers will return to action January 27 when they take on University of Chicago at the XS Tennis Club in Chicago.
