Romeoville, Ill. - An overtime outburst from
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) helped lead the Lewis University men's basketball team to an 88-75 win over Indianapolis Thursday (Dec. 7) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at Neil Carey Arena.
Blaylock scored 28 points in the game, including 10 in the overtime. His four-point play with 2:59 left in overtime helped break a 68-68 tie and gave the Flyers the lead for good as they finished the game on a 20-7 run.
Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) added 21 points and 10 rebounds, while
Josh Niego (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) tallied 12 points.
Lewis (3-6, 1-2 in GLVC) shot 47 percent (31-of-66) for the game, while Indianapolis (5-3, 1-2) shot 55.3 percent (26-of-47). The Flyers went 9-for-18 (50%) from beyond the arc.
The Flyers outrebounded the Greyhounds 33-22, pulling in 15 offensive boards. They also forced 21 Indianapolis turnovers, while only committing 10.
Indianapolis led 35-28 at the half, but the Flyers opened the second half on a 15-1 run to take a 43-36 lead.
Lewis led 65-59 on a Blaylock layup with 2:07 left, but the Greyhounds finished regulation on a 7-1 run to send the game into overtime, 66-66.
The Flyers will play three straight road games leading up to Christmas. The first of those games is Thursday (Dec. 14) at St. Francis. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
