Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team won its third straight game Thursday (Dec. 7), topping Indianapolis 65-49 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at Neil Carey Arena.
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) went 10-for-10 from the floor in the game to finish with 24 points and nine rebounds.
Kayla Brewer (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee School of Languages) sank three three-pointers to finish with 15 points and five rebounds, while
Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) added 12 points.
Gabby Green (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) dished out eight assists, while
Tierney Lockett (Richton Park, Ill./Rich South) had six rebounds and four assists.
The Flyers (7-3, 2-1 GLVC) went 26-of-56 (46.4%) from the field. They outrebounded the Greyhounds (1-8, 0-3) 40-25 in the contest.
Lewis exploded out of the gates, leading 10-2 3:25 into the game before Indianapolis rallied to take a 13-12 lead. The game was tied at 18-18 after the first quarter.
The Greyhounds led throughout the second quarter, holding a 29-26 lead at intermission.
A 16-2 run in the third quarter for Lewis flipped the game around and the hosts led 46-37 after three quarters.
Kelliher then helped the Flyers secure the win in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points in the period.
The Flyers head back on the road for their next three games, completing a stretch of seven of eight games on the road.
They will be in Lakeland, Florida, to take on Florida Southern Saturday (Dec. 16) and Eckerd Sunday (Dec. 17) in their final games before Christmas.
