Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team extended its streak of 20-win seasons to five - going wire-to-wire with the 77-55 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Quincy University at Neil Carey Arena on Saturday (Feb. 11) afternoon. The victory extends Lewis' winning streak to six games.
Lewis sophomore forward
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) was nearly flawless with a game-high 29 points on 12-for-15 shooting, while grabbing a game-high seven rebounds. Kelliher only played 26 minutes and actually outscored Quincy by herself in the first half with 19 points.
Flyer freshman forward
Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) pitched in 12 points, while redshirt senior guard
Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) collected 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks in the win.
With the victory, Lewis improves to 20-5 overall and 12-3 in GLVC action, while the Hawks fall to 5-20 on the campaign and 2-13 in conference play.
Lewis shot 49.1% (28-for-57) from the field and 40.0% (4-for-10) from three-point range, while the Hawks knocked down 33.3% (19-for-57) of their shots and 36.7% (11-for-30) of their long range attempts.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 16), as the Flyers head to Indianapolis for a 5:30 PM tip-off.
