Rosemont, Ill. - Lewis University seniors
Carolyn Nojiri (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and
Carly Jaworski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) combined for seven RBI as the Flyer softball team picked up the 10-6 regional victory over Ashland in the season opener at The Dome at the Ballpark on Friday (Feb. 24).
Nojiri went 2-for-4 with four RBI, including a two-run triple and scored a run in the win, while Jaworski picked up two hits, including a base-clearing double, to finish with three RBI.
The Flyers also received two hits and two runs from junior left fielder
Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist). Eight different Flyers scored at least one run against Ashland.
With the win, Lewis improves to 1-0 on the campaign, while the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season.
Lewis sophomore pitcher
Dara Sanders (Crestwood, Ill./Mother McAuley) picked up the win with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief. Sanders (1-0) scattered six hits and struck out one to earn the victory.
