Kansas City, Mo. - Rockhurst University pounded out 31 hits in two games, as the host Hawks picked up the 14-3 (7 inn.), 12-4 doubleheader sweep over the Lewis University baseball team in the Flyers' season opener at Bourke Field on Saturday (Feb. 25).
Lewis'
Kenny King (Orland Park, Ill./Providence ) and
Ethan Bloom (Schaumburg, Ill./Hoffman Estates) combined to go 7-for-11 with four RBI and two runs scored to lead the Flyers offensively in the twinbill.
With the sweep, Rockhurst improves to 4-0, while the Flyers fall to 0-2. Both teams return to action for a 12 PM twinbill on Sunday (Feb. 26).

In the opener, Rockhurst opened with 10 unanswered runs before the Flyers posted three RBI in the seventh inning.
King went 2-for-3 at the dish with a RBI double and scored a run for the Flyers.Â
Lewis senior left hander
Alex Shake (Glasford, Ill./Canton) took the loss for the Flyers on the mound. Shake allowed nine runs and 11 hits in 2.2 innings of work, while fanning three.

Lewis jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Hawks responded again with 10 unanswered runs on their way to victory.
King went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, while Bloom was 2-for-2 and drove in a run.
Flyer starting pitcher Peter Hamot was tagged with the loss. Hamot (0-1) surrendered eight runs and eight hits in three innings pitched, while striking out three batters.
