Rosemont, Ill. - Lewis University freshman third baseman
Kendyl Strack (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston) and senior shortstop
Carly Jaworski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) combined for five hits and five RBI as the Flyers earned the 10-6 regional win over Lindenwood in the final day of the Lewis Dome Invitational at The Dome at the Ballpark on Sunday (Feb. 26).
Strack (run) was 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Jaworski (run) was 2-for-5 with two RBI.
The Flyers also received two hits from junior left fielder
Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist), sophomore first baseman
Carley Maupin (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) and junior catcher
Sarah DeMasi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport).
With the win, Lewis improves to 3-2 on the campaign, while Lindenwood falls to 3-6.
Lewis starting pitcher
Lainie Schweickert (Peru, Ill./St. Bede Academy) picked up her first victory of the season. Schweickert (1-1) allowed six runs and six hits in four innings of work, while fanning five batters.
Flyer sophomore
Paige Fossey (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) claimed the save, tossing three innings of scoreless relief, while striking out one batter.
Lewis returns to action on March 5th, as the Flyers take on Urbana at 3:30 PM ET in Clermont, Fla.
