Kansas City, Mo. - The Lewis University men's basketball team held Rockhurst to a 32.8% (20-for-61) shooting performance - including three field goals over the final 10 minutes - en route to the 75-54 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the Hawks at Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse on Saturday (Feb. 4).
The Flyers, conversely, knocked down a season-high 57.7% (30-for-52) of their shots, including a 53.3% (8-for-15) outing from beyond the arc.
With the win, Lewis improves to 15-8 overall and 10-3 in GLVC action, while the host Hawks fall to 13-8 on the campaign and 7-6 in conference play.
Lewis junior forward
Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) notched a double-double of 22 points and a team season-high 14 rebounds to pace the Flyer offensive attack. Wilson's 22 points is a season-high for the Cleveland native.
Lewis senior guard
Miles Simelton (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) finished with 15 points, while sophomore swingman
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) knocked down four three-pointers to finish with 14 points and a game-high three assists.
Flyer senior guard
Capel Henshaw (Harrisburg, Ill./Harrisburg) was a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor, including two three-pointers, to score 10 points.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 9), as the Flyers welcome Truman State to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:30 PM tip-off.
