Romeoville, Ill. - UW-Parkside opened the Great Lakes Valley Conference campaign with a 10-8, 3-0 sweep over the Lewis University baseball team at Brennan Field on Friday (March 24).
With the sweep, UW-Parkside is 8-8 overall and 2-0 in conference action, while the Flyers fall to 4-15 on the campaign and 0-2 in GLVC play.
Both teams return to action on Saturday for a 2 PM (DH) at Brennan Field. The start of the twinbill has been pushed back due to impending inclement weather surrounding the Romeoville area.

The Flyers rallied from a 6-1 deficit and took an 8-6 lead into the seventh inning, but the Rangers responded with four unanswered runs to secure the 10-8 win in the series opener.
Lewis senior center fielder
Brandon Collins (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way North) led the Flyers offensively, as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, including the go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning.
Flyer freshman third basemanÂ
Austin Tittle (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) also got into the long ball act with a solo homer and drove in two runs for the Flyers.
Lewis first baseman
Kenny King (Orland Park, Ill./Providence ) went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, while junior shortstop
Sam Cybulski (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Lyons Township) went 2-for-4 and scored a run in the loss.
Lewis freshman reliever
George Manikas (Lockport, Ill. /Joliet Catholic) took the loss for the Flyers on the mound. Manikas (0-1) allowed three runs and four hits in 2.1 innings of work while striking out three batters.

The Flyers could not get the bats going in the nightcap as they only managed six hits off of the UW-Parkside pitching staff.

Alex Kiszkowski (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) and Tittle accounted for four of those base knocks, as they each went 2-for-3 in the loss.
Lewis hurler
Sam Couch (Bolingbrook, Ill./Joliet Catholic) was the losing pitcher for the Flyers. Couch (2-1) allowed two runs and six hits in 4.2 innings of work, while striking out six.
